Katie Harris is a costume designer, wardrobe manager, and seamstress with a passion for creating costumes that help performers feel confident, comfortable, and fully connected to their characters. With experience designing, building, sourcing, and styling costumes for productions of all sizes, Katie brings both creativity and resourcefulness to every project.
As the founder of Costumer Kat, Katie works with theatre companies, dancers, and individual clients to design and construct costumes that support movement, storytelling, and character development. Her work spans intimate black box productions, children’s theatre, community theatre, and larger cast shows, often balancing ambitious creative visions with mindful budgeting and thoughtful sourcing.
Katie has a strong background in garment construction, alterations, pattern drafting, fabric care, historical fashion research, wardrobe management, and plus-size costume styling. She is especially passionate about making costumes that are inclusive, actor-friendly, and built to meet the demands of live performance.
Katie currently works as a Wardrobe Supervisor and Children’s Theatre Costume Designer at Music Mountain Theatre, where she designs and constructs costumes, manages wardrobe tracks, maintains costume stock, conducts fittings, and supports productions from first concept through closing night.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre with a focus in Costume Design and Construction from Muhlenberg College, with minors in Music and Creative Writing. Whether designing a fairytale world, reimagining a familiar character, or building a practical wardrobe plan for a fast-moving production, Katie approaches each project with care, collaboration, and a love for the magic of live performance.
